With sincere regret Esaka sensei from the All-Japan Iaido Federation (ZNIR) has canceled the travel plans for Kato sensei and his assistants to our annual summer seminar. In Japan the swine flu procedures for people traveling to and from Japan and North America have become very restrictive in order to protect Japan from this flu.

Coincidentally Kato sensei has been hospitalized with a heart problem and could not come in any case. Kato sensei is very important to us and I know everyone will be hoping for a favourable recovery.

Since the ZNIR sensei cannot come, the dan examinations that were to be held at the May 22-24, 2009 seminar have been canceled. According to our dan regulations we must have a ZNIR representative present at these examinations — we have no other choice.

All participants will have their fees for the three day seminar refunded.
