“24 Pattern Yang Set (Peking Form)”
The 24 Pattern Peking Form is probably the most famous Tai Chi Chuan set today. It has been responsible for maintaining the health of literally millions of people. However, most Tai Chi practioners performing the set, do not know, that its patterns are highly efficient for self defense.

Sifu Robin will teach the set and its applications. A particular attention will be given to throws. Students will discover that practicing applications is a lot of fun. They will also realize that the skills derived from this type of training will greatly enhance their daily lives and happiness.

Day Spar, Sparring/fighting workshop

 

To enter competitions and sometimes to enter into friendly sparring with other martial artists we must be familiar with using our traditional Kung Fu/Tai Chi Chuan patterns using protective equipment.

This workshop will provide an opportunity to get comfortable using the protective equipment whilst drilling counters to common attacks and also to try sparring under different competition rules (like qin da and san da) in a safe environment. It will be safe and a lot of fun!

Cloud Hands Tai Chi Set course

 

The Cloud Hands set was devised by Grand master Wong Kiew Kit to impart the fundamental patterns and skills of Wahnam Tai Chi Chuan to learner students in the most efficient manner possible. As such the set is quite easy and fun to learn as well as quick to perform.

For Chi Kung and Kung Fu practitioners this is the perfect introduction to Tai Chi, for those already familiar with Tai Chi this set is an excellent addition to their skills set. As well as learning the set we also cover at least one basic application for each pattern in the form.

‘The three major benefits of real Tai Chi Chuan’- This workshop will cover

  • What is the history and development of Tai Chi Chuan?
  • What are the three major benefits of Tai Chi?
  • Why is mostly the ‘health aspect’ that is emphasized today?
  • Learn some very nice Taijiquan Chi Kung patterns like ‘Lifting Water’ or ‘Cloud Hands’ that can be practiced to receive great benefits.
  • Learn Grasping th Sparrows Tail and some basic combat applications
  • Enjoy a ‘Tai Chi Chi Kung’ session with some standing in Wuji- i.e. meditation

The above, although ‘introductory’ in nature would generally be quite hard to find in a regular Tai Chi class, so you should not miss this opportunity.

 ‘Essential Push Hands’ course March 25th 9 a.m.-12.30pm

In this course we will use the body movement and patterns of ‘Grasping the Sparrows Tail’ in the format of push hands. We will cover Pushing using the four directions and learn the fundamental footwork to counter the pushes. We will also cover flowing with your opponent’s movements and we may also add some throwing techniques and Chin na techniques if time permits. This is an ideal course to bring ‘Grasping the Sparrows Tail’ and Tai Chi in general alive!

Note this course maybe a bit difficult for those who are not familiar with the ‘fundamental’ body movement of ‘Grasping the Sparrows Tail’ (however, beginners who attend the ‘cloud hands course’ should be OK to attend)
